heres my problem i have purchased a used cylinder for my 98 srx....upon assembly i notice that the 2 origianl cylinders do not have dowel pins for the power valve housing....the cylinder i have to install has 2 tiny dowel pins where the housing bolts onto the cylinder....is this a 2000 and up cylinder or am i ok to remove these dowels and install the cylinder??? the gasket set i have has no holes on the gasket that mounts the pv to cylinder and there are no holes in the housings i have....any help would be great thanks

you can remove the dowels and just make sure the valve is centered when you tighten the allens down. I do remember the cylinders on the newer ones have slightly different porting....

I FOUND THIS POST VERY INTRESTING. FROM WHAT I CAN SEE. THE POWER VALVE BLOCK DOWEL PIN FIRST WAS ON THE 99 SRX AND USED THROUGH 02. THE 98 SRX DID NOT HAVE DOWEL PIN. NOW THAT IS COREECT THE PORTING ON 98 AND 99 SRX IS DEFFERNT THAN 00-01-02. 3:16 (yammie tony)

GOT TO MEASURE THE PORTS AND HOPE ITS A 99 CYLINDER. 98-99 USED SAME PORTING. I DON,T KNOW WHAT AFFECT TWO 98 CYLINDERS AND ONE 00-01-02 WOULD HAVE. I THINK YOU WOULD LIKE A MATCH. ALL THE STOCK PORTING SPEC,s ARE HERE. 3:16 (yammie tony)

NUMBERS ON THE OUTSIDE ARE THE SAME AGAIN ON THE 99-02. CHECK YOUR 98 NUMBERS. THIS AIN,T GONNA TELL YA MUCH. PORTING WAS CHANGED IN 2000. YA NEED TO HAVE THAT NEW CYLINDER YOU HAVE MEASURED. MAYBE YOU CAN GET IT AT WITH PISTON ALL THE WAY DOWN. RIGHT WAY THOUGH IS IN HAND. 3:16 (yammie tony)

TRY TO BE ACCURATE FOR YOU GUYS. PROBLEY SHOULD TRY AND FIND YOUR YEAR.
98 SRX - NO POWER VALVE DOWEL PINS
99 SRX - FIRST YEAR OF DOWEL PINS. SHARE SAME PORT SPEC HAS 98.
00-01-02 SRX- HAVE DOWEL PINS AND ALL THREE YEARS HAVE SAME PORTING. PORTING IS DEFFERENT THAN 98-99 SRX. MORE HP ADDED. THOSE DIGTAL CALIPER SHOULD WORK PERFECT FOR YA. JUST FOLLOW THOSE SPECS. THIS NEW CYKINDER HAVE DOWEL PINS FOR POWER VALVE. 3:16 (yammie tony)
