97 vmax 700 sx .i want to start mixing my own gas and was wondering about the mix i need? 50:1?
and can i just disregard the oilpump if i mix my own fuel?

it depends on the TYPE of oil you use.... SOme synthetics are good up to 100 to 1 but I personally would rather replace sparkplugs (by using too much oil) than replacing CRANKSHAFTS (by using not enough oil)!!! ALL OF MY 2 stroke weed eaters, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, etc, etc, I mix at 32 to 1.. 1 ounce per OUART of gasoline or 4 ounces per gallon!!!! EVEN MY race sled I ran at 32 to 1 ( as recommended by my engine builder!!!)

so i mix 32:1 ,do i just disregard the oilpump and unhook the idiot light and ride on?
where the hell is the oil pump at?

I get about 300 Km of running for each liter of oil using the stock oil injection on my 98 700sx on a very consistent basis. I average 200 km per tank of gas (45 liters), depending on weather/riding conditions/riding style. That would put it at about 70:1 give or take. IMO 50:1 would be safe.
I've run Klotz syn oil exclusively since break in and I am really happy with it's performance. My sled currently has 14000Km and it still runs very strong.

Your oil pump is attached to the lower engine case below your carbs.

Why would you want to disable the O/P? there very relyable and mixing
gas is a pain in the *** on the trail when pulling up to a gas station.

Not to mention the oil doesnt get mixed in with the gas as good on the side of the trail.
