When's the last time someone actually got a deal on an ebay item. Seems like lately, everything I bid on ends up going throught the roof on the final selling price. In many cases, way more than a product is worth! Seems like too many bidders have deep, deep pockets.

I agree, deals these days are few and far between! Been watching for a new jacket for probably a month now, and everyone I have bid on has ended up so close to retail that I may as well go out and buy it and have it in hand right away! Every now and then though... I guess that's what keeps suckers like me coming back. Kinda like the lottery!

A.

I just sold a couple sets of rail extensions on ebay that cost me $180 for $21. That seems like a little bid too good of a deal for me. I would never get something that cheap. Ithink the only things that go cheap are the things that are not very popular or stuff that not many peaple are looking for.

Yea pre-season I was buying sleds parts like mad, but the closer we get to snow the less Ive been buying off ebay for the reason stated above. Not so much OEM stuff more A/M products that are going for more, but its not my money so what do I care. At one time there was 3 SRX Hauck Growlers on ebay, so instead of biddng/waiting, I asked them what there buyout would be on it. 1 guy came back wanting $300, said he just sold one to a guy for that price. LOL Yea not this guy cause $300 is nuts for a used non c-coated can IMO.

ebay

I just bought the wife a 2007 phazer mountain off of there with a 199 miles,a tall windshield and a dealer installed tether for $5600.00.I thought that was a pretty good deal

There seems to be a combination of deep pocket bidders and shadow bidders...it's getting harder to find deals on ebay for sure.
(shadow bidder = seller and/or representative bidding on own item to jack up pricing)

ya, I agree on the shadow bidder thing. I bid on a trailer recently and got in a war with another bidder on the price. After finding that I was misled by the seller, I withdrew my bid. Funny thing. 2 days later the other bidder withdrew his.

I've also noticed more items being relisted (with no explanation) after they had already been won. My guess is that these are situations where the shadow bidder didn't quite get the job done .

the problem with ebay, is that it has turned into either a store front for a retail outlet, or a substitute for having a real store - most items listed are new items and are listed at retail price plus shipping. the other problems I see is that a lot of items get listed with no reserve, and then the auction is ended early if the price does not reach what would have been a reserve price. I have watched multiple items and seen the auction end early and then get relisted a few days later - most of the time the seller just says the sale fell through. ebay is a good source for an item that you can't find anywhere else or may no longer be in production - if you are looking for a deal on a popular item, it won't happen on ebay. I sold a used windshield for an Arctic Cat last fall for $135. I only paid $39 for it brand new - problem for the buyer was, it was no longer available and he wanted it.

yeah, ebay has turned into a bunch of crap.

I did however just get a set of 4 like new 2006 jeep rims for $199, and 60 shipping.
all the yards around here wanted 100 a rim.

most non reserve listings get pulled if they do not get a high enough bid, or if they have a reserve, it is usually too high.
used parts/ items should go for 1/2 of what they were new, but it seems most want near full price for something that should not go that high.

then you have people marking up shipping ridiculous amounts.

I did the math on the rims I got, and it should have been under 40 dollars, but the guy wanted to make some $$ and marked the shipping up another 20 bucks.

I got a spare used but perfect tank for my suzuki TLS for 50 dollars plus 30 for shipping a while back. That was a steal since a new one will run a few hundred.

for me, craigslist works great, but they need parts listings for sleds/ toys, and not enough people use craigslist.
