I apologize up front for what looks like just another bar riser post. Lots of posts for bar riser, but still working on mine. Note: I read in detail each and every post when I searched "riser". I really want to do this right so I can adjust my bars to any position without worry, and also have it look good (I am admittedly anal with machine). Also, I broke a throttle cable once, and rode 100+ miles back to the truck miles one handed pulling on a bare cable wrapped around my finger and don't ever want to repeat that experience.......
Here goes: I added a 3.5" ROX bar riser and a 4" seat riser to a 2002 Viper ER, and stock cables and brake lines are very tight. I saw a post 8-25-2006 post from Viper Treats with some part numbers for 2003 Mountain Viper throttle and oil pump cables. Can anyone tell me if all Mountain Vipers came with higher bars? When you look at the parts list they list (2) part numbers for all cables. The numbers recommended by Viper Treats are less expensive than the the other numbers in the 2003 parts list. Wouldn't it follow that the cheaper parts are shorter? I called a Yamaha dealer and they claim they have no detailed parts description that tells them the total cable length by part number.
Example:
Viper Treats recommended: 8EN-26311-00-00 for throttle cable ($13.55 online @ Cycle Parts Nation). The same parts list also calls out 8EK-26311-00-00 ($14.61) which matches the stock PN for the 2002 Viper throttle cable.
This pattern is repeated for all four Mountain Viper items I would order - brake line, oil pump cable, parking brake cable, and throttle cable. I am just surprised that the longer parts are (correction) LESS expensive....Any thoughts out there? I would like to stay with OEM Yamaha parts since I have a dealer 2 miles from my home. Besides, the whole lot would only cost $77.11 vs. $50+ just for a extended brake line from Jazz or PowerMadd...... Thanks for any help from the forum.....
Note: Here is the parts list for all four cables from the 2003 Mountain Viper:
1. Throttle Cable: 8EN-26311-00-00
2. Oil Pump Cable: 8EN-26320-00-00
3. Parking Brake Cable: 8EN-26351-00-00
4. Brake Hose: 8EN-25872-00-00
Viper Treats indicated that Yamaha added 2" to the length for the Mountain Viper......This should allow riders to easily raise their bars 4" using OEM parts.

i have a 2" riser and the stock cables are snug at that height. not sure how people are getting 3.5" risers with stock flatland viper cables either. i must not be doing something right. would like to go higher than 2".

I added a 5" rox riser to my viper. I used cables from Gravity Works Racing. The look of the braided stainless lines are awsome. Cost more than Yamaha cables, but no worries about fit. Plenty long enough. I did have to use a e-brake cable from a mountain viper though because they can't make them.
viper cables
I just did the exact same thing to my sled, all three cables, oil pump, throttle and parking brake are exactly two inches longer and work with slack using a four inch riser.
I was leery considering the price was cheaper but who knows with yamaha.

They are longer. I bought all the cables and the cheaper ones are the longer ones, I have done this already, it's not a misprint.
Only difference is I bought the powermadd brakeline extender first before I realized how cheap the factory one was. Likely the factory uses these mtn cables on all their mtn sleds, if someone at the dealer did a "where used" search on the number it probably comes up on many models.
How did you get a seat riser?

Angry Dave - Thx for the repy. So you used the 03 Mountain Viper cables? If so, then I have no worries. I knew someone on the forum must have done this with the popularity of the ROX 3.5". I had a PM regarding my 4" seat riser. It is a homemade one. See pics...I will be listing an identical 3.25" seat riser I made for buddy for his Viper available in the F/S section. (He went four-stroke, mortgaged the farm for a new left-over 2007 Attak GT).
