I got extended cables from GWR, they are suppose to fit my 99 SX, they work fine but the oil cable does not have the connection that you are supposed to separate and measure the free play, When I check the stock cable and measure TOTAL free play, it is 33mm, more than the stock 20mm, as in the manual, due to the 13mm of cable that slides into the female part of the union.
So, if all of this makes sense, can I just measure the total free play at the throttle, make it 33mm and be happy?
The cables were a set and are installed, I like them and am hoping i can use them.
Thanks For the help

can't you just measure the free play on the bar end? free play is free play whether it is in the middle of the cable or the end, pretty much the same, isn't it?
As soon as I get mine back together I will be up against the same thing. I've already sold the stock cables so I will have to figure it out too.

nben,
I'm with you, free play is free play, you just have to add in the 13mm used up by the union, if you need a pic let me know and I will send one, then I measured at the bar end as you stated, I just was wondering if anyone else had had this problem.

Exactly.
I get asked that quite a lot.
The fastest / best method is to remove your stock cable and lay it out with out seperating it in the middle, then lay the GWR extended cable next to it and make the free cable at the ends match.
It will go together pre-adjusted that way.
EDIT:
I know this is an older thread, but I get this quite a bit, so I figured that answering it here would maybe help others out.
