Hi,
I have a new(to me) 99 vmax 700.
Cleaned the carbs and put back together and the thing backfires or runs on 2 cyl when semi-warmed up without the enrichener.
Runs ok with the enrichener at step 1 and has snappy throttle response.
I forgot to check the primary jets when I had it apart, but the mains were spanky clean.
Would you guys guess at the low speed screws (bottom intake side) are out of adjustment or primaries have junk in them?

Pilot jet plugged!!!
Need to clean the pilot jets, they are plugged.

Yup plugged pilots. Pilots, mains, and needle jets need to be cleaned EVERY YEAR before the season begins or you will have problems.
