Hey guys, I have a question, I have a problem with my 99' SRX... When I am riding it, it just shuts itself off after awhile of riding and won't start back up until it sits for awhile. Its kind of hard to explain but when I'm riding it all of the sudden shuts off like I fouled a plug, And when it shots off I check for spark and there is none... But like I said I let it sit for a while and it starts back up runs for awhile, and does it all over again.
I replaced the stator, and checked over the wiring closely, and came up empty,
Some people on Hardcore sledders say it's worn wiring under the motor...
Anyone have similair issues?, or have the same problem, or any ideas on what may be wrong?
Thanks in advance
Brad

Sounds like you have a wired rubbed though on the wiring harness that goes under the engine. Its not uncommon.

You have been bitten by the wire-rub-through bug.

Just pull the wire harness out from under the engine and find where it rubbed through at, tape it up really good and put the wires inside a flexible plastic protector sleeve that you can find at any auto store.

When I bought my srx the first day that I could ride it, it left me stranded in the dark 1 mile from home. Same thing that is happening to you. Start up fine, run for a while, pleanty of power, all of a sudden, just like you shut it off, or like it boggs out. I went over the wiring and everything checked out. Road it again, same thing happened, go for a while and bogg out. :o| :o| I found that my wires that where going into the coils were loose. They would pull them self away or heat up and expand away from the connections. Check them out!!!! The other thing that I would check is the main wiring harness that goes under the motor. Just my 2 Cents!!!!!! Good Luck!!!!

yep and check the connection where the cab open in the front sometime it rubb there too ....

check a post under my username to find an easy fix for this wiring....no removing engine no pulling harness out ....

Thanks guys, I'll tear into this weekend and let you know what I find...

Well I think, and Hope I found the problem... A wire going to the Cdi Just about where it connects to the CDI behind the black plastic... Hoping I fixed it, I let it idle for a while and rode it in the grass field by our house for a minute or two, No problems yet, Have to wait for some snow now :letitsnow
Thanks guys

I had the same problem with my 98 at the cdi.
Two wires were arcing out above the footwell on the metal.
I also had the rub through under the motor.
Glad to hear ya fixed it.
