Hello everyone, I have a friend who is putting a 01 700 out of a crashed sxr into a 97 sx 700 with a toasted engine and is haveing trouble with connections looking for advice on what to do and issues is it better to change the stator from the old engine to the 01 or what would he need off of the 01 sxr to make the motor work with his 97 chassis thanks again!

You could either use the stator and flywheel off the '97 or change the harness and cdi off the newer one.

^^^ I agree... I used to ride my 99 600sx with the single headlight... after riding the 2000 SRX with the dual headlight I was almost riding with a flashlight on my old SX. (the newer 4 strokes have the same effect on my SRX) The dual bulb swap would be worth it if you're already half way there.
