Almost out of oil pump adjustment

Thought I'd check my oil pump adjustment [never checked it since I bought it last year] and was suprised to see the cable gap was 27mm! I adjusted it to 22mm but now it's almost completly out of adjustment, only about three more threads left!!
I'm thinking that the cable wouldn't have stretched that much as it only has 4400 miles. Is my oil pump on it's way out? Any other reason for this? I've checked everything over and all looks good [throttle free play, kinks in the cable etc.], I can't see down where the pump is though.
 
If throttle end play is on(do that first) and you got 'er to spec(i would use 23 or 24,22 may be on the rich side yet) you should be ok.

your cable is seated right in the adjuster right?

I seated the cable down into the adjuster, pressed the throttle a few times to make sure it was fully seated,[it's 1.5mm and I can see the slack in the throttle cable being taken out as I press the throttle] I then pulled the cable up out of the threaded adjuster and measured from the bottom of the metal cap on the cable to the tip of the threaded coller on the adjuster and reset it to 23mm. I was just worried because the adjuster is almost out of threads now. Thanks again for your help!

I like using 2mm, but anyway dunno without being able to look at it,
your procedure sounds right. :dunno:

IIRC i think mines out quite far also..
