I bought a 1997 VMAX 700 triple with low miles that runs great. It seems to use a lot of gas and oil, even more than friend's Yamaha triples. It even fouls
plugs at least every 100-150 miles. Since gas is now over $ 3.00/gallon and
oil is way up, does anybody have any suggestions on how to lean it out a little without burning it up? What size should the primary jets be on this model? Thanks.

Been covered on here a lot
142.5 main jets right across
drop the needles 1/2.

Oil wise a few idea's you could try.....trailbossrph said:I bought a 1997 VMAX 700 triple runs great. It seems to use a lot of gas and oil,
FIRST, set your thottle end play to 2mm(down @ the carb) then 2nd adjust your oil pump cable, 2nd pic,gap (a) to 21-22mm.
then set your idle..

Mine was identical to yours when i first bought it it was running really rich killing plugs hard on gas and oil etc. I am at sea level to 2000ft temperatures to -25C. I ran mine 140 pto 138, 138 down 1/2 clip on the needles and 40 pilots also the float heights were way out from the factory 13.3 +/-2, the reed spacers or reed stopper mod makes a big difference to throttle response.
