The BR9ECS is because of denotation problems, they help that problem. When I bought my 02 SRX last Feb. the previous owner had the BR9ES in it,but I really didn't know anything about it until someone here mentioned the SRX takes the BR9ECS.The motor denotated more until I put in the right ones.It is because of the shape of the plug...will someone explain that properly for everyone to know? Not quite sure how the story goes.

The difference in the two(ECS vs. ES) is the benefits of the ECS design is at wide open throttle (WOT) the shorter electrode of the ECS doesn’t get as hot as the standard ES, helping to avoid detonation and melting of the electrode on the lean-burning engines.
need to be carful too there are two versions of the BR9ECS plug i think one
is gapped for SKI-POO's and the other is our's .028 to .031,According to NGK, one should NOT attempt to adjust the gap on these style plugs.
Many people over-tighten their spark plugs, When installing new plugs into a (2-stroke) snowmobile, they (ideally) should have anti-seize lubricant applied (lightly) to the threads to prevent possible seizure with the cylinder (threads) over time, and should be torque to 14 foot-pounds.

I thought it was like 14-17ft-lbs? I just go be feel. Actually, I just use the 1/2" drive impact and torque them to 300 ft-lbs!
