I've noticed alot of guys parting out perfectly nice sleds since they have not had any luck selling out rite. Just curious if anyone has actually calculated this out in terms of cash values.

ie. 2002 Viper = +/-$3000 vs. Parting out = $??????

ull def make more parting out but its gonna take a while. ive made 3 grand on my 97 xtc 500 and still ahve alot of parts but it wasnt nearly all at once still sellin parts here and there

Parting out is the way if you have the time for it. I've made over $700.00 on my 1994 Vmax 600 that wouldn't be worth $200.00 if it was just another "sale''...... And I have alot of little parts left.

dont forget all the ebay fees for those idiots that list every single little nothing
I agree - between ebay and paypal say good bye to at least 10%.

i sold about 75% of the parts off of a 1998 ZR 600 (that was well worn) for about $2700, i doubt that I could have got even $1200 for the sled totally together.

If I were to do it again, I would probably just sell outright. Parting out can get to be a pain when you're busy doing other things. Having said that the payout is considerable compared to just getting rid of it. By considerable... I mean just that, you really need to consider if it's worth you're time for the little extra pay or if you would be happier to just get the thing off your hands and have all that money there instead of little by little at a time.

And the shipping. Following up on emails tracking numbers...etc. Emailing back and forth to get payment... It really just depends if you have the time to tear a sled down and have a transaction with every sell-able part.

Does it work out??? Ask a junkyard... It's amazing what kind of money some of those can pull in. :)
