I think I have read evey post there is to read on putting srx pipes on a viper. I still have a few questions.

From the pictures, It seems electric start is out of the question. I can deal with that. What I can't tell is if they will fit with reverse. Thats not very optional.

Now I see the pipe extensions that have been used. Is there any reason not to extend the pipe itself and not have seperate pieces?

I want to use the stock heads. I also have dcs sense i have an 04. Do the heads have to be evenly machined, or can I leave them alone?

I have the fab skill to do anything needed. And pipes are avalible cheap.

I also plan on using the srx computer to keep the timing down.

I guess if I make it far enough, I would be looking for jetting and clutching advise, but that can wait.

If I can make it work, this seems like exactly what I am looking for.

Thanks

Thats not very optional. you can still use electric start, you will do it like in a srx conversion, install the battery in front of the clutch on the front side of the shock tower. use a gizzly/rx style battery.

Now I see the pipe extensions that have been used. Is there any reason not to extend the pipe itself and not have seperate pieces? yes, the exhaust port uses a different bolt pattern as well as an oval port to alow for the flatter angle on the pv. what i wish i had done is this, just make up individual long headers that would be one piece from jug to pipe. the extensions make a nice transition from the oval port to the round port in a short distance and make up the length different so the pipes will work the same. the other reason i did this at the beginning is that i didnt know if in the end i would need to use srx cylinders and wanted to leave that option open.

I want to use the stock heads. I also have dcs sense i have an 04. Do the heads have to be evenly machined, or can I leave them alone? i would do some research on the 04 wire harness and 02 srx harness. my guess is that they share the same plugs etc. this should get you your dcs and a good timing curve. you should take the tight cylinders down to the big one.

hope this helps, ask away if there is anything else.

That helps a ton. The pipes are cheap enough, I am not worried about cutting them. I would rather the one piece header. So thats good.

My battry died out last winter, so I need a new one anyways.

Lets hope my next questions are to do with jetting and clutching...

min ewill be started up in a day or so, well when ever i get my cyl back from bender. I let you know on how my jetting and clutching works.

for the flange i just cut the pipes off the stock viper manifold and welded extensions to them. It would of been nice to have just one piece.

Good luck

I would be very interested in anything you find out on this. I haven't had a chance to look into it any further than I have. MrViper brought up a good point in that the 04 VIper had the different hand/thumb warmer set up.

started it up today and it idled perfect every things seems to be good, just rebult the top end at the same time, so im running 158.8 across with 42.5 pilots. now the clutching

even with the exhaust leeks sense i only have 3 springs its much quiter then before but much crisper.

Im going to drop down to 40 pilots and 157.7 mains after my motor is broken in.

I would like to see some pics if you get a chance to post some......Expecially on the manifold that you extended!!!!!!!!!!
