Hey everyone,
I did a search but didn't come up with a conclusive answer to my qustion.
I have heard that alot of people swap out the rear shocks in their older proaction skids for the viper shocks because they are better for rough trail riding. I was just wondering what the process is for the swap. Iam gonna have the skid out soon for a track swap and thought it would be a good time to do this as well.
From what I have gathered all I definatly need is the shocks and maybe limiter straps but am unsure because I already have the long travel rear suspension. I have also heard that I the viper transfer rods are a good idea..
Am I wrong or is there anything else I need to know?
Is there something about shimming one of the rear shock mounts??
Thanks,
Steve

Your shocks and limiter straps are fine, some adjustable transfer rods would be a nice addition.
The shocks in your xtc are the same shocks as the viper - you could have them re-valved to better suit you riding conditions weight and style for about $90-$100.
Deycore, pioneer performance, carver are just a few that could do the revalve for you.
I have some adjustable transfer rods in the classifieds right now.

I put a full set of Viper shocks in my V-max. No mods required.

You might need new limiter straps anyways. I needed one of them when I swapped tracks I noticed the front shock had pinched it some time back and the left side one was nearly torn through.
Damn expensive for what it is too.
As a side note if you do end up getting a viper shock & spring for it would you be willing to sell the XTC shock and spring? I am thinking about getting one so I can once and for all get the "I think I need an M10 in this Viper to get it to ride nice" comments to stop.
