Hey just to say first I love this site. Second I just bought a 99 srx 700, I noticed a leak at the crankcase seam.There is no problem splitting the case open but the crank wants to came with the lower case. is this right or I'm I missing something?

mine was the same way. The crank was set in the lower half.Grab each end of the crank pulling up and push down on the case with your thumbs.While you have it out, check the bearings and have the crank trued and welded,if it hasent been done.Just had mine done by rollform, a local yamaha expert.Also replace the crank seals.

New gaskets and seals will be great. Check the wear limits on your pistons. Measure the O.D. of your pistons 10MM from the bottom of the skirt. REPLACE the rings. If your pistons are out of spec, replace them. 2.7143 - 2.7144 inches is the spec. Measure with a micrometer and anytihng under that, they must be replaced. Check the piston pin for wear as well. Should be between .7872 - .7874 inches.

Oh and, only use OEM Yamaha parts when replacing motor parts.
