is it normal to have to compress the w arm an inch or so to install the limiter straps? i just installed viper rear shocks on my 99-srx . everything went smooth until i had to hook up my limiter straps.its like they are to short!they are longer than the stock ones that came out by around an inch. what am i doing wrong?

Hey Blue, this world dont need 2 of me!!LOL. BTW , get me her name and # and i will hook up with her. LOL . not sure how my women will take it but worth a try!! the straps i am using are from a 97 xtc(long trav. straps) same yamaha part # for 97 up to 03. my digital cam is broken , so i can not get any pics. anybody have some pics of the routing for the straps? i am pretty sure i have them in properly . cant see any other way they would go. thanks for all you input guys.

have you done anything with your spacers on the rear transfer rods yet. you should have a thin spacer on the bottom and spacers enough to get you to 14-16mm total gap.

hey betheviper, i was waiting for your expertise . yes, i put the small 2.5mm on the bottom and have 7.5mm on the top . but the rods are adjustable, and right now i have like 20mm . is this to much? what happens if you have to much or to little of a gap? on another note, back to my original post. what are your thoughts? should i of had to compress the front shock to install my straps?

Hey seca, she was a hot little number.Met her back in the eighties when I worked out there.I almost married her,it was close. And when I say to you big bore jugs, that is an understatement. She was from Marystown by the way.LOL

You shouldn't have to compress the W arm to get them on. Also, it's a great idea to check all the bushings [the BTV fix works wonders for tightening up the slop]

I had seen where someone had made an extra hole to get them to work, I can't remember who it was though. Just stumbled onto the post while using the search engine for suspension stuff. Worth a try anyway!

update

just to let you guys know, i drilled 1 extra hole on the top part of the strap about an inch up from the old hole--worked perfect!! problem solved. now my next question. spring pre-load.right now this is where both are set. rear shock = 14.5 "(368 mm) front shock = 7.5"(190mm) i weigh 200lbs and ride mostly ungroomed trails that have been bet to death with all the snowmobile traffic , and open farm fields with lots of deep drifts. i would like a plush ride , but not to soft that the suspension will be broke up. i also want to have some fun with getting the skies in the air. more weight transfer. right now i have 20mm sliding gap on the rods. thanks, joe.
