Well this happend last season and now I'm ready to fix it, Mr sled told me at haydays hat I could just weld it instead of pulling the motor (I really don't want to pull it)
I bought a new (used) rod before I knew I had to pull it so I have a good rod and the busted one on the sled.

It broke right on the weld on top where the square plate attaches to the rod and the handlebar hardware....

Any of you guys guys weld it before or what is the recomendation.....
I really need help with this one, is getting colder.
Thanks
The sled is a 99 triple

ahh the steering post broke, did ya have a riser on it? yes, as mrsled said you can simply mig weld it, its mild steel. What I would do is find a small peice of tubing to slip inside of it and then set the top back on and weld it all up, you also can drill a couple holes thru both tubes and then plug weld the holes, this will keep the tube from moving and rattling if its not super snug. It will be just fine after that. Use a mig welder on it so it will be a good clean weld, and i am sure you know to make sure the surfaces are good and clean without grease or rust on them.

Thanks Don.
Yes 2" riser.
Actually I'm going to have it done, I don't know how to weld.
I think I understood what you said....Will see how it goes...
So MIG haaa...?

Thanks

Nick
