When we install new tracks in our sleds, they tend to stretch a little after riding a bit(sort of like a break in period). After a few good miles, the track should be re-tightened again ...right?Noticed a couple of years back when I installed a 1 1/4 RipSaw on my SXR,after putting some miles on,the track sagged more while it was up on the stand.I had to re tighten the track again to a correct sag. This I imagine is a normal procedure.

I think this maybe why Yammie sets their tracks at 1.18 inches with 22 pounds of downward tension.
This in my opinion is set extremely tight from the factory. It will break in with time like you mention but by then your hyfax are gone.
After installing the track with the track alingnment perfect, let it sag a litle bit when in the raised position. After 500 miles or so, raise the rear of the sled again and check your tension. It wont hurt your sled to have some sag about an inch or so for trail riding. Mountain riders usually run tighter tracks if they are not running extrovert drivers to elimintate any ratcheting. Track ratcheting is caused by your drivers slipping off the track drive cogs. Ratcheting vibrates the skid. It is loud and you can really hear it. If you chose to run a really loose track, ratcheting mostly will happen during hill climbing.
All in all to end this. when installing a new track, run it loose for the break in peiord far more generous than Yamaha specs and re-adjust later after the break-in period. It only takes a few minutes.
