hello guys!
can anyone tell me the difference-technical between the 77.er srx and 79.er?s Cdi box?
I was told there was a maximum Rpm limiter in the 79:er Cdi-and it cant be brought up to high RPM ( over 9000) witout losing ignition curve!?

So, does that mean adding the 77 porting to the 79 and doing all the other little tricks are for naught? Is there a remedy out there outside of obtaining a 77 cdi box? If so, can you please explain as I have a 79 that I had planned to take to the limit. I'd like to determine what that limit is, if any. I always thought there were no limits if a guy just threw enough money at things!? Thanks in advance. G.

SHURE, YOUR REMEDY IS PLACES LIKE HEWTECH THAT ACTUALLY MAKING REPRODUCTION RACE SRX CDI BOX,s THAT ARE BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL, YOU WOULD BE FINE TO ADD THE 77 SRX PORTING. KEEP IN MINE, THE 77 SRX RAN AT 9700 TO 10,000 RPM. THE 79 SRX RAN AT 9000. THE 79 SRX RESPONED WELL TO THE RACE PORTING, .44 CARBS AND AAEN MOD STINGER RACE PIPES. 3:16 (yammie tony)

That was kinda my plan, although I am ignorant about a lot of the details yet, thanks much for that. How do you know all of this stuff? When the time comes, I'm surely going to require lots of help with the whole package.
But right now, it snowing here, sposed to snow all week and by the weekend I'm riding my Attak, yippee! Thanks. G.

Mod it and run it with the stock ignition. Probably 1.6-1.8 BTDC. The 77 box had an advance to it for oval racing but I think the 79 box is fixed. I use an '80 on mine.

You can use a 8k4 cdi. They are easy to find and will go as many rpm as you want.

Is that Enticer? Actually I've never seen a Yamaha box thru the early '80's that wouldn't rev all you want.

found out by clutching mistake, my 77 mod went 12,000 with one for 2 seconds, I run that cdi on my mod 440's and 540
