I just flipped the front shock brackets on my SRX, and switching left to right. When I went to put the shock back on I had to force it into the trailing arm. This puts quite a load on the top shock eye. Has anyone else experienced this? What kind of problems am I going to have? Does the aftermarket brackets correct this?

make sure you grind out a relief for the spring retainer to clear when unloaded

I did grind clearance for the retainer, but putting a load on that top eye has got me nervous.

I had to add some washers to one of the bracket bolts to get the flipped bracket to align right with the shock mount, and had to grind away a corner of the bracket also.

I did also. My concern is the loading of the top eye from forcing the shock backwards into the trailing arm. A shock is a linear machanical devise. This may put a load on the top shaft packing inside the shock.

I did my flippin about 1000 miles ago and I havent notice any problems with the pressure that you are talking about. My shocks don't leak and everything seems perfect.
whats the advantage in doing this

its been a while since i have done this mod but i dont remember having to flex the top of the shock over. the brackets have 2-3deg angle from the hole for the shock to the centerline of the holes on the frame. this ends up being 4deg in the opposite direction, if there is alot of binding, you could ream the hole a little to alow for the correct angle.
this was never ment to be a perfect mod, just a cheap and easy one.

It worked great for me, I had to grind the bracket abit, add 2 washers on the bottom hole and flatten the lip so the bracket sits nice and flat. No binding at all. Thanks BTV for yet another great mod!!BETHEVIPER said:its been a while since i have done this mod but i dont remember having to flex the top of the shock over. the brackets have 2-3deg angle from the hole for the shock to the centerline of the holes on the frame. this ends up being 4deg in the opposite direction, if there is alot of binding, you could ream the hole a little to alow for the correct angle.

Is it possible to flip the shock brackets on my 98 vmax. Would this get the front out of the snow a bit? It seems i am pushing more snow then i am going over sometimes.
