Hi Guys
Last year I was fouling the center cyld. spark plug. This fall I cleaned all three carbs. , put in new fuel lines , and cleaned fuel tank pick-up. When done sled fired up quickly and ran great. Now if it sits just for one day without starting it the sled starts really hard , when it does finally start it runs great. Checked choke adjustment and its fine , it seems like choke is not working , but it is cause I can stahl the engine after it warms up. The sled will idle for some time now , which it would not do last year. If anyone has any ideas please let me know , I'm worn out by the time it starts.
Thanks , Dana

My srx can be very hard to start also- the colder the worse it is. After trailering for several hours I've had to pull the plugs and pour pre-mix into the cylinders and she fires right up. I thought about adding a primer like the old sleds use to use. Any ideas?

did you pull the choke plungers out of each carb and clean the passages
up/blow air through them?

how,with the choke?

yes I did remove and clean them Daman. I can stahl the sled with the chokes so I assume they are working. Thanks , Dana

Pull her over a few time with the chocke on, then pull the plugs...if rich with fuel and plugs wet...one reason why its hard to start after sitting day or so...fix, check & re-set float level to specs less 1mm. IF there is no fuel than your chocke is not opening fully...fix, adjust throttle end play and reset chocke to specs making sure you are fully open on the chocke rail
Just becaus you can stall the engine with the chocke, this can also be done with half chocke... just go over everything again, I made the mistake like what you are having...my chocke & floats were off...keep us posted

^^ do like theblues said, it should start easy, my '01 sitting 3-5 days
will start in 4-6 pulls no problem.

but i got everything adjusted to spec and clean clean clean.

My 97 SX with 7200 miles has started really hard for about a year also...the colder the harder

God the only issue I have is pulling that 700 over when its cold outside, especially if its under 10 degrees!!! Is a 6" pull really even count!

man i wouldn't be any where near a sled @ them temps. lol

ours used to start easier than it does, it has gotten harder the last couple of years

So,would a primer aid in any way?My SRX sat for over 2 weeks and took 13 pulls to start firing.Would be nice to inject the venom straight to the plugs.
Mind you I killed the engine last time by pulling the choke,so there was a lot of smoke when it was starting up.Thought I fouled a plug, but she cleared. Some on here say to kill the engine with the choke, which will make it easier on starting..I don't know.

That trick is for real deep cold...sort of washes the oil off the cylinder walls, the next day all the oil on the walls aren’t thick as h**l…I have tried it…easy to crank=faster=quicker start

SRX takes 3-5 pulls to start after sitting a while. Mine has done this since I have owned it.

If it bothers you, just buy a primer bulb set-up

cold start

every srx will take at least three pulls in the very cold weather but after being warmed up it should take 1/2 a pull every once in a while it will not want to start when warm on the first pull and if so just give a little throttle when you pull and it will fire right up :2strokes:

I have the same issue, if my sled sits for a day it takes a good 6-12 pulls depending on the temp to start. And at 0 degrees it can be a bear to pull the thing 10 times. I only have a 600!!!!!! Last year I cleaned the carbs, but I havent opened them up recently. But when I do I will make sure they are within specs.
