I was wondering what the difference might be between an 98 SRX 700 flywheel and a 98 Sx 700 flywheel. I have both and they look identical but have different prefix parts numbers. I am building a 981 engine and dont think I need the SRX stator or flywheel because no power valves or dc power needed for this projec. Thanx

There is no difference. Stator yes. If you are trying to get ride of the rev limiter in the srx ignition you should use the hole ignition system from the sx. Flywheel, stator, wiring harness, and cdi. I have a Price 1000 srx and that is what I ended up doing for a ignition system. Actually I have a flywheel and stator out of a 2000 sx 600, same thing.

Thanx for the info. I am building a 980 Unionbay engine based on the SRX bottom end. I need to run at 8600 rpm and have a sx older style wiring harness already in my chassis. I was told to run the srx stator and flywheel and the sx cdi for a better ignition curve. I have both the sx and srx stator and flywheel. I was hoping to run the srx flywheel and stator with my stock sx wiring harness and ignore the third plug leaving the stator I dont need anyways because Im not running the powervavles anyways. Thanx for any info. Shad

Yes you can run the srx flywheel and stator. The flywheels are the same. As for the third plug I am not running power valves either but if I remember correctly I had to switch one wire around.

I ran a 1998 srx 980 with a the complete srx ignition except use the sx cdi box. Stock timming key (not cut) worked great.

I think thats the way Im leaning too. I have a 4 degree offset key I was thinking of using as well. The only big difference I can see with the two wiring harnesses is the main ignition coils have a higher secondary resistance value, and of course I dont need any dc power for this engine. Thanx for all the info guys. Shad
