is yammie ever going to try and compete in sno cross at all? they seem to not be interested at all in competing that does not make sense with all the advertising they do,they have more than double the cash flow than cat and pol!!!!!
can anyone make sense of this?
if they won snocross they would own the market!!!!!!

Marty,
They ran all of last year being more of an R&D season but finally winning 1 race on the new 4 stroke Nytro towards the end of the season. They will be racing again this year with a couple of young guns!
Unless you mean "Compete" as in win win win? time will tell.

How can you say Yamaha isnt interested in snocross? They recently spent millions of dollars developing a 4-stroke snocross sled and this year they expanded their snocross program to include 3 riders (last year they only had 2).
They are trying to make it work with a 4-stroke, which in snocross is a huge disadvantage.
Robbie Malinoski did win a race last year in snocross.
Yamaha doesnt need to win in snocross to dominate the market. All they need to do is to keep constantly tweaking and impoving their sleds every year.
Snocross is cool, but IMO cross-country enduro racing is a much better indicator of how a sled works in the real world.

?
well i agreee to a point...they have to get the best driver out there to get the real results, and trust me sales would skyrocket if they would place in the top three consistantly

the average joe who goes to the dealer to purchase a sled doesn't give a rats behind about who finished where in snocross. its not the same deal as with atv's (sport atv's that is) and dirt bikes. the average joe uses the sleds to put miles on it in the back country or playing in the deep stuff. i think yamaha is doing more than ok. they took a huge leap with going 4 stroke, the others are playing safe by keeping 2 stroke (only advantage they have over yamaha) and in return yamaha has a much better 4-stroke that will in time be the leader with everyone else playing catch up (as if they already aren't)

Last year they signed Robbie Malinoski, who was the reigning Pro Stock and Pro Open champion, how much better do you want?
The fact is that Malinoski didnt perform (other than that 1 win) and Yamaha is moving on with new riders who they feel may be up to the challenge.
Boss Racing wanted too much money, so Yamaha went elsewhere.
They will get there, its just going to take time. Think about it: Polaris, Cat and Doo have had decades of experience in developing their 2-stroke snocross sleds, Yamaha has 1 year of experience perfecting an all-new type of snocross sled.
Ive talked to some people who were at Duluth and they claim that this year's mod sled is much faster than last year's was. Just as their production 4-stroke sleds have, Yamaha's snocross 4-strokes will get better and better every year and its only a matter of time before they are winning races and championships.
Look at it this way too: let everyone else hold onto 2-strokes for as long as they can. When the emission laws finally kill-off 2-strokes, everyone else will be scrambling to develop 4-strokes whereas Yamaha will have a lineup of proven, dependable and very fast 4-stroke sleds.

well lets look who they have for riders yugi wich is the top rider in japan for years, chris davis runing semi who was the fastest rider in alaska in both snow and moto and points leader in semipro open last year. Johan Eriksson one of the top riders in sweeden for the last few year. then steve taylor who we stole from team blair morgan. all good riders if not the best where they came from riding a new sled that is unproven and heavier then the other sled. also the other big 3 have been developing race sleds and testing them all along where yamaha only recently has gotten back in to the raceing sceen. they may not be winnin all the races but i bet they will win some this year im sure of.

Not a problem, none of us is perfect and we all make mistakes from time to time.
