New to the sport and had a quick question. I have a 99 vmax 600 and took it out the first time scince i bought it yesterday. I noticed that every time I slowed to about 5-10 klm the clutch side would make almost like a whine. The best way i can describe it is like if your car starter doesent engage that high pitch wine. I did not no if the belt is slipping when it gears down or what. Im not sure if this matters but I think it might have been clutched because were my friends 98 engages at 3900 rpm mine does at 4400rpm. I think that might be because its geared down. any advice would be great. Also yesterday it was -38'c with the wind, could that have anything to do with it.

easy to fix, take your secondary clutch off and look at the back of it, you will see three little bolts, 8mm head. look to see if there is washers on them, if there is remove them and keep them somewhere you wont lose them. put the bolts back in and the squeeling shoold stop. If you dont have washers on the bolts, the bolts are worn down too much, pick up three new ones and try them with the washers on if it squeels take the washers out. these bolts open up the secondary sheeves a little so the belt isnt too tight.
