Hey everyone well i was topping up all the fluids under the hood on my viper and added some prestone because it was below the cold mark level then headed out to play around to see how everything was working drove around for about half an hour then headed home to check under the hood to see if everything was buttoned up and guess what forgot to put the cap back on the overflow jug,my question is will that create an air problem in my cooling system i did refil what i had loss and let run for a while and all the heat exchangers seemed to be getting hot ,want to go riding this weekend but am afraid to run into problems any help or input tonight would be greatly appriciated thanks sorry for such a long story.

Bleed screw should be on the rear heat exchanger I think. Raise the back of the sled, Start it up and loosen the bleed screw, don't take it out though. Just loosen it enough to get the air to come out. Once nothing but coolant is coming out, close the bleed screw and you should be good to go.

yeah heat exchangers are getting hot would bleed the air out via bleed screw but buddy installed a srx type rear exchanger and did not drill out hole for new location ,i think as long as there are no lights flashing and exchangers are running hot i hope i will be ok ,thanks for the input guys really appreciate it.

I would just check it while riding to make sure all of the exchangers are working.....If you are really concerned(there was no fluid left when you got back and noticed the problem)I would do as shortstop suggested. Make sure you raise the sled and leave it running if you are going to bleed it with the air screw!!

How much did you loose?? whole bottle half? little?
DOnt worry about it. Just add some more coolant and clean up the mess.

I did the same thing this summer. Just before skipping my viper around my lake I topped of the coolant. I put the lid on my running board and forgot to put it back on. I noticed the after I got back that the lid was still sitting on the running board and I felt like a tard. At least it did't fall in the lake or overheat.
