Since cleaning and adjusting the PV's I now have a 300rpm over rev, can I be lazy and change to a different brand of belt to cure this? I was doing some searching and found a few threads where people have said that they switched to a Dayco HPX and found the peak rpm's were down 200-300 and was wondering if this could work in my favour?

Maybe try a little fine tuning with your secondary wrap. What do you have secondary wrap at?Probably have to go more on the wrap, but may not solve the 300 rpm issue. You could put in 15mm rollers which would drop the over rev and lower engagement. That is what I am going to do with mine.I am about 200-300 over reving, smaller rollers should drop this amount and actually lower my engagement speedwhich I would like. And she will pull harder at low end with these rollers.Or just add some more tip weight, unless you are maxed out there already.

The 8CH belt should drop rpm about 2-300 if you want to be lazy try an 8CH belt. They're a bit softer (less rpm and easier on the clutches) Personally if it were me I would add just under a gram to each weight if the rivet sizes allow for that small of a change, then fine tune with the secondary, but if you want to try a different belt go ahead and let us know how it works out.

You can try an ultimax 4432 belt. that will drop your rpm,s but the belt won,t last nearly as long.Allways 100% of the time control your rpm,s with primary tuning.

Dont tune your primary with your secondary. Add some weight to the tip of flyweights and be done with it.

Use the OEM Yamaha belt

The problem I've run into is that the previous owner installed 20/37 gears [the bottom 37 is stock] and 8 tooth drivers for the 1.25 track. I haven't pulled the clutch apart yet so I'm not sure what he has in the stock weights for rivits but I would suspect they are loaded. I remember him telling me that he also very little wind on the secondary, it does backshift well though. I have the stock 23tooth sprocket, so I suppose I could put that back on and go from there but I must say, I do like the acceleration the low gearing gives me, as long as it will do about 100mph I'm happy. Any thoughts or advice?

youve got alot of gear there with 8 tooth drivers, remember steep gearing removes load from the motor so it takes more clutch weight to keep the rpm down. Your gear ratio is 1.85 for the chaincase gears but the use of 8 tooth drivers makes it 2.09, your top speed will be low but as you mentioned it will have great short run accelaration, its all in the riding conditions you operate the sled in, if your a short distance, off trail rider then your set up right, lake riding, long field riding, railroad beds or open groomed trails youd be geared way too deep.

Thanks MrViper, that's excellent info!! Seems around here, everytime we get an inch or two of snow the wind then picks up and blows for 3 friggen days, creating 2 foot moguls on every lake and straight stretch. When I bought the SRX I had planned on putting the stock gears back in but after using it for a while I found I really liked the low gearing and it's extremely rare that I ever wind it out.
After researching some old threads I found where someone had said Hauk Powersports has heavier rivits for the stock weights so I think I'll maybe check and see if they still sell them.
Thanks again!!

Put washers(1gram) behind some new 4.5 gram rivets. I will be in wpg friday for company x-mas party if you need guidance.
