Stuck Fuel Screw: Help

Well tried to clean the carbs is th new 03 Viper. It's a good thing I did because the last owner (Heinens) didn't tighten up the carb boots from the air box. That would not have been good.

Anyway, was merrily cleaning the carbs when I got to carb #3 (PTO) and found that the Fuel Screw was Seized. It would not move at all. Soon found the the end of the screw was "screwed" so I drilled a small hole in it and tried an "easyout". I now have a seized scew with a broken easyout in it. Argh!!!

Of course it's the PTO carb which is the most complex of the three (TPS).

Any one have a set of Viper carbs for sale at a reasonable price?

People with so many problems right when riding season begins.You had time before winter sets in,now is not the time to wrench,now is the time to RIDE!!!!!!!LOL Exciter fan,just take vise grips to the screw and wrench it.Works for me,then replace the screw with a new one.

ARRRRRRRRRRgh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I just am going for a ride now,my sled is runing good,LOL

A new rack of carbs may be your only answer. Man the air screws are in a terrible spot. I almost broke a screwdriver last week getting one loose. Good luck !
 
I quess you can't get a vise grip in there,just thought about it.I had a bowl drain screw that wouldn't release on the SRX,it was rusted a bit.That I put a vise grip to and backed it off since the head was destroyed by the philips screwdriver.Just picked up some new ones from Yamaha.Your situation is a tad more complicated,slotted screws I believe and recessed.GOOG LUCK man,sorry I can't help ya.
 
I had the same problem when I went to pipe my Vip last season. Had 1 stuck fuel screw and every idea I tried failed. My last resort that I did was using a Drill motor with a flat blade bit and that was the finishing of that carb body. I ended up breaking the fuel screw housing that it thread into. So after I was all said and done I just got on ebay and bought a set of Vip carbs. If you dont have any luck getting it out I still have the carb rack that I broke last year, 2 out of the 3 carb bodies and still good, you pay the shipping there yours. But there will be no jets, needles, slides, tps, etc, just the carb rack empty. Good luck

This is deffinately with out a doubt the greatest snowmobile help forum i have ever been involved with !
 
I'm also glad I'm not the only one who has had this problem. I even heated mine up with the heat gun and it wouldn't budge!!!

If I could get the broken "easyout" out I might be able to do some more drilling, but that might just screw it up worse.

Bluemonster: Vise Grips on a carb!!! Scary!! I rarely use vise grips because they most often fail. If I can fit a vise grip in then I'd rather use the right size pipe wrench becase the more pull on a pipe wrench the tighter the grip gets. Vise grips just end up slipping.
 
Well your in luck the one I broke was the middle. I just went to the garage to check the threads on the carb body you need(TPS body) and the fuel screw threads nice and smooth with no hang ups. If you want the rack and 1 fuel screw your looking at $15-$20 shipped USPS. It be cheaper to ship UPS but then your stuck with brokage fees since your in Canada. If you have paypal Ill PM you my account and get em shipped out tommorow if need be.

Thnaks for the offer, but I found a rack with three good cabrs. All I nned to do is swap in my bowl guts and I'll be good to go.

Was just in the garage adjusting my carbs slide height/ needles/ fuel screws.. Guess what happened!! The fuel screw on the clutch side was stuck, so after 3 hours I realized that i will not get it out whithout breaking the carb.
So, do you still have those carbs expert?
