Hey guys, just wanted some opinions on this type of antifreeze. Supposed to be the latest and greatest thing apparently. I know a lot of guys swear by the green, but this stuff is blue and it looks cool lol as pathetic as it sounds. :bash: Just wondering about it

So what do you guys think of the chemical makeup and such of it?? I know the pink stuff is really bad but this stuff is glycol based so I think its the same as the Green stuff with a better additive package. Not sure on it just thought i'd ask

I'm no chemist, but I used to work for a company that supplied OEM service tools and vehicle maintence products to the Off-road (construction and AG) as well as Over-the-road (Semi) manufacturers. I was a Sales Engineer, and worked with Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel, Cummins, and Nissan Diesel. I took a two-week class at the Detroit Diesel Technical Center, and we spent 2 full days talking about antifreeze, and why it was important to use the special formulations made specifically for diesels. The are special additives that dampen the sound waves in the block caused by the extremely strong ignition/power stroke due to the very high compression. If water or plain antifreeze is used, it will result in holes in the cylinder liners.

Long story short - coolants intended for diesels are much different than regular coolant made for cars and light vehicles.....so I would proceed with caution....thought they do note that it is suitable for cars and light vehicles....

I would never of guess that. We learn every day. I though the air resonators where the only thing dampening sound waves. Thanks for the info.

Mine has green in it. I picked up some YamaCool at the dealer. It's orange...same stuff? What's the deal?

Here ya go,,,, AS LONG AS IT PASSES the cavitation and corrosion tests and MEETS OR EXCEEDS ASTM-D 6210 it will work FINE in your YAMAHA sled!!!! This stuff is a LOT BETTER than PRESTONE or CITGO BRAND!!!! (yamaha brand)

My 2cents, manage a fleet of 85 vehicles mostly cummins & volvo. The pink and blue we are always fixing coolant leaks. The same year and model with green have a lot fewer lks. Since yamaha uses a lot of spring clamps might have to switch some over to worm to stop some leaks. Hope it doesn't take out the water pump seal.

okay perfect guys, thanks a lot, not sure if i am going to run it or not yet but was just wondering what the exact differences were between them. People have said on here before the pink stuff will eat gaskets out and i've heard that from the guys at work to. Havnt heard anything bad about the green stuff just that you have to change it at the specified intervals. Just wondered about this stuff as its different.

Thanks a lot

You guys are talking about antifreeze color like there was a color standard in place. Isn't it just coloring added?

I've always thought that the different colors were different types of antifreeze and you were never to mix them together. It wasnt till recent years that companies made antifreezes that were compatable with all the different colors

take the chevy dexcool for example....eats out the intake gaskets over time....i have changed quite a few of these....run green in them after that no problems....have read a bullitin somewhere saying that pink or orange stuff is harder on the o-rings and gaskets so my guess would be that its the same in a sled....runnin green since original no probs yet...just my 2 cents
