ZX2 installed in SRX - photos added
Got my new ZX2 installed in my SRX last night. Will post some photo tomorrow. I have one concerened that I'm hoping will be an adjustment solution.
After the skid was installed, I lowered it to the floor. Sitting on the floor the front end sits way low and the back half of the skid and track are completely off the floor nearly 2". This doesn't seem normal at all.
I will be raising the front end with Viper shocks. Hopefully that will be the fix. If so, it is evedent that this skid can not be used on an SRX without lifting it. Mine looks like a snowplow.
Has anyone who's installled one had this problem or thoughts?
Millinocketrocket?
Thanks

You might have a problem getting that skid to work in a srx.It is the same setup for a srx\ viper or a apex\attack that dosent make sence because of weight differances in the 4 strokes rear and front end height with a arms.I would get some viper trailing arms and spindles longer shocks and some drop brackets longer r rods shorter sway bar links and let the shocks right off at the back.If you put just viper shocks on the front it will be two stiff and will pound out the brackets trying to get the front end up about 4 inches from were it is now.
I know many have installed the Expert X as well as the M10 in their SRX's and haven't had to do major front end work.
I hope others will chime in on this. Just got 8" of snow and I'm ready to ride.

There is a big differance in those skids to what you have. You have no support now were the w arm used to be.2 big shocks to hold up the rear of the sled and the front 2 have to hold up the rest of the weight.Whats it like when you set on it?Stiff or does it drop at all.

Mine is real stiff!
I put my zx2 in my viper. It is so stiff I had to put the rear shocks on three for my 180Ib weight. Where do you have your revolver bolts in. The first two by themselves covers weight transfer (VDF) and the other three adjust coupling basically. Play around with these pins and you should get what you are looking for. Also you can adjust the shock preload through the window using the tool on each side. Only turn each side clock wise though. If you look carefully you can see what click you are on and match the other side up. I went all the way around to 1 and then up to 2 to get me to click number 3 for 180 ib rider.

Haven't touched the shocks yet. I'm the same weight as you. My pins are at 2 and 3. Are you able to adjust your ZX2 to a point where the back end is off the ground?

When you sit on it does it settle? How much track slop do you have? One thing if your in a nice warm garage its actually 'larger' then when it will be when its cold and your riding. The plastic composite actually shrinks. Tighten the track so there is no track hang if your shop is 60 degrees then leave it outside for awhile and check it after its been in the cold for awhile you should have about 1-1.5" max and when you sit on it it should be level.
Crazy skid so different then were used to. One thing is fore sure RIDE it sounds like you'll never look back once your on it and it can seem stiff as board in the garge get it on teh stutter bumps and glides through like butta. So the reviews on teh 4 stroke side say. I have mine waiting to be installed after I get my driveshaft back from the extros being pressed on. Have fun!!

no mine sits level!
My sled actually sits fairly level with a bit of lean towards the front end. Once I sit on it, the skid settles an inch or two and the sled looks perfectly level. My viper front end is alot higher then the srx though. I'm going to ride it tommorrow and I will take a few pics for yeah.

Ya- not sure Zach... did A.D. Boivin say you could put one in an SRX? If you haven't long traveled the front yet, I would think that would make all the difference.... if the front is the same height as the viper, it should sit the same as a viper- right? I know on mine, the very back of the track sits about 1/2" off the floor when I'm not on it, but settles down when I sit on it. The back end does seem a tad higher than the proaction. Also, maybe the revolving adjuster? Try putting the pins in #2 & #4-- that's where I have mine

I'll know tomorrow when I add the shocks. I ordered directly with Jaff. He asked what it was going in and voiced no concerns. I'll post some before and after pics.

Wow!
I see what you mean now. My skid sits completly flat on my concrete floor in my viper. Took it out for a 10 mile ride and was amazed how much of a difference it made. The sled handled great and just ate up the small bumps. I was actually out looking for bumps but hand to settle for a few 10" snow drifts :-). Really happy with the sled now.
Not sure how much of a lift you will get with viper shocks, but if you switch your mounts around and add them that should solve your problem.

Wow that definitly looks akward. I would switch your shock mounts around to get some front end lift. Keep in mind that skid is TALL, my edge sat below my running board on the rear arm mounts and the ZX sits above the running board and its still taller then my edge. I would send a pict to Jeff and AD asking his input and if he says its fine ride before going any further. One theme that seems to be present is that all the rules of rear skid tuning seem to be thrown out the window with this skid. Do you have any snow to test ride it now? Be interesting to see how it acts. Hopefully it doesn't wear the hyfax out right in the front where the weight of the sled is now on.

the problem is the srx has short travel in the front. changeing to the viper shocks will help (remember to change control rods as well this will increase width), changing trailings arms to the viper style as well they will increase your height in the front as well (the spindle leg is taller). I am not familiar with that skid but if it has a limiter stap you will have to tighten it up.....CP

Any more luck with the skid, just looking for an update as I might be looking at getting a ZX2 for my SRX.

I just purchased one. It will be here on Monday and I will post back results after putting some miles on it. I plan to put it in Monday night.
