can some one tell me whats involved in boring the carbs to 35.5. can this be done at the local machine shop?

the bore of the carb.
The inside of the front throat(engine side) of the carb, its best to slightly offset bore them so you dont open up the idle fuel passage, if you dont youll find they will run rich from idle orfice hole being too large. 35.5mm is about as big as you can go, some do a 36mm taper bore, but a half a mm isnt going to mean anything.
