charging circuit
You better make sure that the charging circuit on the 2001 is up to the task. The single headlights do not have enough output in that circuit. Search my username. I've been working on HID's for ever. If you 2001 has 12vdc at the headlight it might be easier for you. You could use a battery and the trickle charge circuit to light the HID and then time out so that the headlight circuit of the sled is power the HIDs. J

i think the 2001 has dc, and 300w caharging system, i am going to try them with no battery first, i think they will light up if i rev the engine and hopefully the will stay on even at idle.
I have foud a place i think the battery is suposed to be commected to, it is a triangular conection with 3 cabels one red, one red with wite stripe an a black one. How do i connet it to the battery ?

Red is for +, B is - and R/W is the stater solenoid. On my dinosaur.

The battery box mounts on the chain case cover. There are three bolsters with holes in them that a tapping screw goes into. Yo will have to go to Yamaha for the box unless someone on here has a used one for sale.
Ok thanks, does anyone know how many watts the cahrging an light systems have each ?

On the single headlight the charging is 1.2A at low rpms and 2.0 at 8000rpm. I imagine there is a little surplus on the headlight so I would guess to take the headlight wattage/(13.8-14..
