Pulling Stator

I have a feeling I have a bad stator. Lights dim, guage resets, etc... I've checked the harness and that looks good. I'm going to test the stator tonight. What wires off of the stator do I need to test, all of them to eachother? I been looking on here, but all I really found were the ohm values of .35-.44 or so. Also, do I need to pull the motor if I have to pull the stator or can I get it off in the sled. What all needs to come off, just the recoil and flywheel? Any tips appreciated.

you check the 3 white wires for the stator, you can check it on the sled, usually a ohm test cold and a ohm test warm will do good, they usually check out good if they are .35-.50 ohms. To change the staotr you have to remove the frame section above recoil, recoil and then pull the flywheel off with a automotive steering wheel puller, then remove the stator(3 phillips headed screws, use a impact driver on the screws so you dont strip them out.

NOt trying to highjack but what are the possibilities to have no resistence at all. I check mine and I get no reaction from the meter. no matter what I do it reads nothing.

No reading as in infinity (a lazy eight) ?

That means that the circuit is broken. Either you are not making good contact, your meter is not working right, or the stator has a broken winding.

Test the meter by touching the leads together while on an Ohm setting. If no reading it may need a new battery.

Brand new meter touch em together and it goes to 0.00 just no life from the wires. would I still get the headlight to light up when i pull it over if the stator has a broken wire? Sorry yamablue a dont mean to hijack. Ill stop now
