Im running srx pipes on a viper with 22/38 gearing and 01 srx cdi

IM currently running

8dn 20s 4.5 both holes and www primary with green spring at 60deg 51/43 rx1

Im thinking of switching over to 8bu-00 with 4.5 tip. 2.4 first hole , www primary 51/43 and green spring at 70 deg.

MY questions are what rpms do I clutch for?

My guess would be shift 8250 climb to 8550??? which woudl kind of be in the middle of srx and viper

Would you shift for the pipes or the viper motor?

I think that you want to clutch for the cdi and the pipes CC. I am not sure others will chime in to help!!! Do a quick search on clutching and see what an opitmum srx rpm would be with the year cdi you have!!! I think they are 8100 to 8400 on top!!!

thats what I thought but the viper is ported to run 8600 right?

Looks like im goign to have to eventually hit a dyno.

for now im just going to have to play with it.

okay I might be off here and this could be a different setup, but my piped viper was running 9100 from CPR. Different pipes and all but just wanted to through that in. It was the viper cdi box. But for the srx I have heard 8400 to 8600 tops.

run it at 81-8200 out of the hole to 8500rpm, after 8500rpm the cdi begins to drasticly retard the timing, the minor porting differance in a viper cylinder to srx will still keep it at 8500rpm.

as of now its about 8200 out of the whole and climbs too 8600 but the primary gets hot, i can touch it but not keep my hand there. the secondary is cold.

this is running in about 12" of fluffy stuff. SO im goign to increase my tip whieght and increase my wrap to 70
