I picked up a used Phazer FX from my dealer a month ago, with the intention of using it as an offtrail sled, but I have to say, i think the viper has to go. Anyone else ridden a phazer and really loved it?

Really, so is that good off trail and for ditches...?
I was thinking of getting a Mountain one for the trips to the UP and off trail and deep snow around here...Just because is light and I'm thinking you can swing it around pretty easy.....
Keep me posted on how it does off trail
Thanks

Nick

I have ridden a couple and loved them, not quite enough HP for my primary sled but I will be picking one up in the future just as a play sled. They really are a blast to ride.

So far thats the ONLY 4 stroke Yami I would buy(cause of its weight and size), but the only way it could be my primary trail sled is if it song that sweet sound of a turbo or S/C. Thought about parting the Viper to do so just cant come around to do something like that YET, cause I love them 2 smokes.

I test rode a phazer FX last winter. I liked it, but the 80 mph top speed is my ONLY gripe. a turbo on it would really rock. Does anyone make one yet? or, has anyone fitted one to their phazer? I have yet to sign up on the 4 stroke side, and I won't until I get all my wrenching on the Venture complete.

Yea theres quite a few companys out there that make turbos and S/C kits for 4 stroke Phazers, they can make anywhere from 130-165hp(pending boost and fuel used/11psi makes around 140hp pump safe) over the stock 80hp. Theres already turbo kits for the new Nytros, MCXpress kit can make 240hp over the stock 130hp.

a 130 hp phazer would be a blast. a 165 hp phazer would be pure evil.
I will have to reserve my full judgment on the new FX nytro until I ride one. I like the way they look, but looks are not everything. I really liked the RS warrior I demo'd in 05 with the triple in it. So its pretty safe to assume I would like the new nytro.

Maybe next year I might jump to a 4 stroke, saving for a house and buying a new sled are not in the cards this year.

I bought a new '07 Phazer GT for my wife. If you don't know, the only real difference between the GT and FX are front shocks, windshield, and air deflectors on the sides of the tank.

NO, it's not an off-trail sled. Sinks like a rock if you don't keep it pinned. Even then, you quickly run out of track or power. I ended up dumping it for a Vector Mountain. To me, there's no comparrison between a Phazer and a Viper.

The only thing I have to say good about it was that it was fun to jump. I had all the same problems that most everyone else did with the rad icing over, iced running boards, wet boots, oil in airbox, etc. etc. BUT there are lots of mods that you can make now that corrects these issues. Change the track, put on a turbo, cover the tunnel hole, and you'll probably have fun with it.

Me and a few boys are thinking of investing tin a phazer down the road...I could argue its for the wife...but I really wanna ride it...with todays sleds be so slick.I couldn't think of riding my viper in an unknown field or through brush etc...thats the way we did it as kids and found awesome drifts to jump...the phazer seem to reagnite that kinda fun...sure a big sled is fun and all...but a lil 340/440 type sled always has a place in my garage and brings out the kid in me...As I said to some of my buddys on this subject...some of todays sleds are "trailmobiles"...the phazer to me is a "snowmobile"..
Gosh..now I want one...heheheh

If your going to make it an offtrail sled plan on stretching it out.Remember they only have a 14" wide track so they trench easier with less foot print on the snow. There a blast on the trails.Coming off a viper you will miss the power but you will be smiling all day long in the twisties.

alot of fun riding a phazer

I rode one last year and have never had as much fun as that was. I like lite little sleds, I've had ZR 440s and PRO X 440s and a Phazer for about every year they made them, and that new phazer was the most fun!

I demo rode a Phazer GT last winter and absolutely loved it. I almost bought a Phazer FX back in December but decided to get a YZ 250F instead and after not liking the dirtbike and absolutely loving the Phazer I demo rode, I really kick myself for not buying that FX.
