I have the rear suspension out of my wife's 2002 SXR600 right now for a long track conversion. 121" skid with 144" Tracks USA rail extensions Any good starting points for setting the suspension up for a 160 lb dressed rider. It is much easier to get at the limiter straps and the shocks. I am dropping the rear of the skid down just enough to have the suspension bolts clear the heat exchangers so I would like to set it to get some ski lift to help it get up on top of the snow.
Also should I get rid of the transfer rods and go with limiter straps .
We ride a mixture of trail and off trail but it is all flatland riding and the wife is pretty conservitive when it comes to corners. She doesn't try to rail it around corners just a steady speed. Probably why here gas mileage is always better than mine.
Thanks

Anybody have any thoughts. What I would like is a soft ride for the wife but still retain the ride height. I need some baseline settings for the preload for the front skid shock and rear skid shock. I just don't want to crank 40 turns with the skid back in the sled, it's much easier to get at now with it out.
Thanks

Set the full rate adjuster (the big shock at the rear of the skid) in the uppermost hole. Turn the front pre-load to the second softest notch and then lengthen the limiter strap. While you have the skid out, take your transfer rods off and swap the shims top to bottom and vice versa. She will have to ride it a few times and make some limiter strap adjustments as this will affect the way the front end gets out of the snow off-trail. If the ride is too soft, move the full rate adjuster to the middle setting. I weigh 185 and have mine set in the middle, but that is a mountain max. Not sure how much difference there will be in a stretched 121.

Right now I have 11mm or 7/16 of thread showing on the limiter bolts. FRA will be moved to the top hole. I don't have any notches on the front shock just threads. Right now it is just taking up the slack in the spring and the rear spring is about 1/3rd of the thread showing. The transfer rods only have a nylon washer on the bottom, nothing on the top. This is the way we bought it. All the bushings have been shimmed and bearing added to the front skid shock. W- arm reinforced.
