I have a 1995 Vmax 500 that has a sagging rear. I don't recall having any issues last spring but this fall the rear won't bounce back after sitting on it. Any thoughts? Should I replace the rear shock? spring? I don't where to start. Also, can any of this be done with the suspension/track on the sled?

possibly a binding issue at the shafts from lack of grease? Mine did that once when I first got it and I greased the skid and it was fine for the rest of the season. Apparently the PO didn't know what grease was. After that season I pulled the skid to inspect and decided to replace it. This year I replaced it with an Xtra10 and now I grease it after every other ride.

Trust me on this one, that skid really needs to be pulled and gone through. Lots of things need to be greased that don't have fittings. Things will start to break and wear out if it's not done! Pretty easy to do with the skid out and a great time to change bearings and hyfax. I've done 3 of those skids on neglected machines!

Rule of thumb...spring carries the weight & shocks control the speed of compression & rebound...so if you can push down & it returns little, than you need to rebuild your shocks...again do as above mentioned, pull you skid & yeh, you'll be shocked at what is worn out...not a cheap rebuild either if neglected for many seasons...thats why many opt to replace that "no action" skid for another make like, M10, expert X, poos & doos...some even cross the line & put cat in their Yamies...shame on them...LoL...

Ditto, just yanked mine to do the track swap was planning on doing the bearings from the start then found ALL bushings where GONE or close to, Its amazing how bad it can be without you knowing anything is wrong. Definetly worth the piece of mind to pull it and drop the cash.
