One of my costomers came in today to check out the compitition. He was looking over my 04 viper and wants to race. I think i have a chance, i'm just looking for a little advise. His sled is a brand new 07 800 Renegade. My sled is a 04 136 Viper S with a ripsaw track, bender pipes and H/C's I have a few helix's to choose from. An Apex helix, Dalton 53/43 and a Advantedge 48/40. Right now i have 4.8 heel, center empty, 4.3 tip, red primary, and green secondary at 70 and the 48/40 helix. It seems to pull hard. I'm just wandering if i have a chance, or if i should change something. Right now my sled spins a lot off the start and the renegade has an advantage with a wider track. Any reccomendations?

with pipes you need a really shallow finish angle like a 46-34 micobelmont.

I'v been buying stuff from Rich Motorsports. He has Dalton helix's Are they the same or do they differ between manufactures? I can probably add it to the order i have now if it will work.

Your 48/40 is fine. Make sure your turning the proper rpm,s & getting traction or ur screwed. The 800 renegades come out of the hole like a canon so if you don,t have traction forget about the rest of the race.

Thanks guy's, i'm going to soften the rear suspention and raise the front a bit. Hopefully i'll have enough bite to at least stay with him. Will a 46/34 helix help at all. I'v read a shallow finish angle on the helix grabs the belt better, but i think its mostly for top end speed. We'll be racing 1/4 mile.

I have used your set up in a few slp piped vipers
& if there is something better out there go for it. If you want reall mega low i have a 44/36 but i never had any luck with it in a piped viper.

all your setup sounds perfect, just show up and bring a tow rope for the doo,it'll likely blow up anyway.lolololol :letitsnow

This guy raves about his Doo. That would be the talk of the town all winter if it blew. Lets just hope it don't go the other way. LOL.

Do you have transfer rods on your viper? If not that is definately a good way to help it get hooked up. Nice and easy to do as well, and they make a world of difference.

Yes they do. No question you should put a set on there. Also fun to play with for the different conditions you ride in.

Its a standerd rev. I think XP is new for 08. I could be wrong though. How did you make out against the revs?

its like Turk said , they are a rocket out of the gate , there top end is no better than anything else. I ran one on grass a little while back , he'd get me out of the hole bad , I'd spin and he would be gone , standing on its tail.

Oh man you will not have a problem then, ever raced a well set-up SRX?

I ran them at COSDRA this past year and in 660' i didnt have a problem with any of them, the 800 motor in the rev was never very good to tell ya the truth the 600 H.O SDI that day well set-up was pushing the *** off the 800, wouldnt beat it but was right behind it

I also lined up on the lake after against a couple 800 revs, from 0-30 was about 2-3 sleds ( im running 192 studs with bender TC3 transfer rods, shell hang the skis 4 " and FLY),. then from 30 on it was byeebyeee

However i havent raced a 136" renegade tho i would think the first 660 is gonna be tough but from there you should have it....

Goodluck

I'v never raced an SRX. I'v only seen one in the last two years. Yamy's are very rare around here. I have to get better traction. My sled just spins for about 20 feet then it kinda grabs off and on. It may have just been the conditions. I hope the transfer rods help. I forgot to mention the sled is geared down one tooth on the top. I have a stock gear coming. I'm also going to let the limiters out a bit and soften the shocks. My other stock 121 Viper S will cary the ski's for 60 feet. I would think the 136 would have better bite. I'm going to see if i can get someone to race me with my stock Viper to compare. If the piped and clutched Viper loses to the stock one i have a real problem.
