On the early style oil pumps with the short threaded shaft going direct to the carb (such as on the ET250) I measure the threaded shaft to be M3 - .35 which is Fine Thread of course and hard to find. My eyesight is not as good as it used to be, so can anybody verify this thread size. I need to get nuts for it and want to be sure to get the right ones.

Ok, so say it is a M3 -.35 nut. These seem to be hard to find as fine metric is not common smaller than M6.
Anybody got any leads. I have tried Maryland Metric, and Metric Multi-Component. I plan to stop by a Fastenal store tomorrow. Anybody else carry small metric hardware (DIN 934, and DIN 985)?

What I found out so far . . .
M3 in standard coarse thread is 0.5
M3 in fine thread is 0.35 and very rarerly used (this is of course (er fine, no ) what I need . . .)
To confuse the whole issue there are also several British threads and Whitworth threads. The actual threads types have different vee angles and are cut different. There are also obsoleted Japanese and French threads to deal with.
Yikes . . .
You must have my kinda eyesight Bruce, I think you jumped a line as M4 coarse is 0.7 thread pitch. M3 coarse is 0.5 . . .

Had an idea . . . And it worked !!!
Drug out the container with R/C parts in it and found 2 nuts that fit. This is good news because Fastenal, Maryland Metric, and a number of other suppliers could not supply this nut. Seems that this is a thread that is only common in Japan.
Thought I would post in case anyone else had this issue.
