Ihave 04 viper er I had my sled at dealer for service .I told them recharge the shocks on my 02 and 04 viper they said the 04 had non rebuildables ....whats up yamamha...Ifeel I got ripped .are these shocks any good how long will they last ....and does any body have some ohlins for sale ....

you didn't get ripped -I'm sure they charged less for the sled. The S in04 had ohlins inthe front but no rebuildables in the skid either. The shocks you have are ok, dependson how hard you ride I guess.

The only diff. between 02 and 04 shocks is the valving unless your 04 is a ViperS. 02 shocks were very stiff from the factory and in 03 they were updated with softer valving. But ViperS rear shocks are not rebuildable and are the only shocks I know of that ARE NOT rebuildable on any year Viper. Dont always trust what your dealer tells you(I know some of my local dealers have some real idiots working for them), if you want real honest info ask here first. If your a Yami sled owner this is the only place to be on the web for info.

BTW Welcome to the site.

thanks for the info on the shocks. Ill be looking upgradewith new shocks or new suspension. any hot tips in that respect.as for. m10 .ohlin front shocks or good brand of after market components....thanks again

Ohlins on the front are about as good as you can get. For the rear people have done a couple of different things: swap in a mono skid from a newer yamaha, edge skids from a polaris, fastrac from a cat or sc10 III from a doo. Also there are the AD Boivan and FAST products as well. Lots options - none that are perfect. Depends again on your riding style and the conditions you ride in.

And how much you want to spend! lol :bling:

Take a look at your shocks, its petty easy to see if they are rebuildable or not. If they are painted Black , they are the non-rebuildable. If they are Aluminum bodied and silver in color, they should be re-buildable.

I've got an Ohlins 36pc that came out of the rear of my viper in great shape-- it's only got about 1000 miles on it. Shouldn't need a rebuild for a WHILE. Like to get $250 plus shipping. Also have the next size down(lighter) spring for it for another $35 plus ship.
