I need help. The battery is fully charged, but all it does when I turn the key is make a clicking noise. Is the starter bad or a bad relay..... Any help on this matter would be much appreciated.......

p.s. it's a 2002 viper er

Thanks in advance, Doug

You can check the power up to the relay and see, then check after wards.

I would then just jump the relay and see if the starter works,, if it does, thats your problem

Also a load test on the battery would tell you if its good. A dead or old battery may not take a charge. A volt meter can still show over 12 volts on a battery with no cranking amps. Have you tried another battery?

real easy to see how a battery is with a simple volt meter on it and then crank it, if its dropping under 11 volts when the start is engaged, its junk, bad cell.

If the brushes in the starter are starting to get too short, sometimes you can tap on it and it will start working (just for a test procedure, definitely replace).
