Hello, I recently purchased a new nano for myself and got it set up on my main laptop. I also bought a used ipod for my girlfriends daughter online. The person sent me the Ipod and it still had his songs on it. THey were pretty good too. I was wondering how to add his songs to my library on my laptop before erasing them all before I give it to my girlfriend's daughter.

I downloaded the new Itunes on my other laptop, and plugged in the used ipod. It won't let me "synchronize" the ipod music wiht a music folder on the laptop.

Please help,
joel

I do not own an Ipod but not knowing anything about something never stopped me from having an opinion so why stop now.

Can't you just open windows explorer and pull the files from the player to your computer? I suspect if your trying to sycronize with the laptop it's trying to pull the files into Media Player and Apple and Microsoft don't play well together.

I really like the design of the Ipod but will not buy one because of having to use I-Tunes. Much easier to just use MP3 and WAV files instead of duplicating everything into I tunes. It's slow and doubles the amount of files on the computer.

The software on an iPod is designed not to be able to transfer/copy the songs from the iPod to another computer or music player. This eliminates people copying music. Although I have recently seen software on the web to do what you want, transfer/copy songs from an iPod, have not tried this new software, I have no idea if it'll even work.
