Here is an exhaust comparison video on my 04 Viper S. There is quite a bit of track noise, but you get a good idea of what each sounds like.
* Stock setup
* Bender 4x4 pipe with stock can
* Bender 4x4 with QST can

Great Video, Thanks for posting, I always wondered how the sound compared.

They sound great, but to me were a waste of money, no performance gain.

chadande, is it worth the money to buy the pipe and the silencer? i was thinking about just getting the silencer since thats what really defines the sound and where most of the weight savings is at

I'm actually picking up his set...from what I heard...if you powder coat em you'll see gains...outta the box nothin much(2-4hp) except weight loss...and of course that extra rumble taboot..
There was an article in snotech magazine or
http://www.snowtechmagazine.com/articles/2004/bender.php
I'm goin on that assumption. Every little gain is better to me than
goin triples pipes(law doesn't allow them up here)...unsure if I'll keep the
Can on or not for trails...But will see when I throw em on..
Chadande awesome postin that you did...thats exactly what I wanted
to see when you compared them..very nice job indeed..
cheers and thanks
I'm hoping will help...

I would actually like to try the pipe w/o silencer. A silencer on a Viper loses power alot. The Viper is very sensitve to back pressure in the pipe. I tried the SLP, MBRP and Bender a few years ago and lost acceleration big time against another constant Viper during testing. They really don't sound all that great either.(not like a SX/SXR700 does) Big key is the pipe itself. It has baffles internally, which also muffles sound. I also had an extra stock silencer and cut it open just to check it out. It has 3 or 4 chambers in it. You can't really drill it out or anything for better sound.

hehehehe...Yamerdown..yer riding a sweet ride..been watching yer progress...hell the ministry will just look at ya and wave you through for lookin and soundin so good...
As much as I want power like anyone else...just wanna look for other ways in achieving it...every year I give myself $500 - $700 to play with...
Let me know if those pipes are to powerfull for your helix...hehehe

Curious to see how my Ceramic coated Vip manifold, Bender 4x4, and ported MBRP trail can will perform over stock. If I dont see any gain at least itll look sweet when I open the hood up. LOL
Hope so. My backup plan is my Trail Warden jacket. Usually they are just happy to see you out volunteering and let you go, even though I'm actually just out for a ride with the friends. It's worked well so far, lol.S.S.Viper said:hell the ministry will just look at ya and wave you through for lookin and soundin so good
PS - Sssshhhh, lets keep this our little secret.

Triple pipes illegal in Ontario?
I think you mean as an after market upgrade. or my SRX is illegal![Wink ;) ;)](https://totallyamaha.net/images/smilies/wink.png)
I think I read that any modifications to a stock exhaust system is illegal in ontario.
I have stock tripple pipes and a bender can and the sound is nice and throaty but does not give a hell of a lot of excess noise. I dont have to worry about the police as at it doesnt sound like i'm ten feet away when I am a half mile down the trail.
Cheers and great comparison vid.
Thanks

Chadande, here is what I would suggest. For one, I already know that the silencer only with stock pipe into it ,was a loss in power. I proved it by side by side testing. The other thing I noticed ,which is a dead give away ,was my rpm's went down. That spells power loss. If I were you, I would try the 4x4 pipe into the stock can, then 4x4 into QST silencer and see what happens to your rpm's in real world conditions. If they go up, then your in good shape. If they go down with either, you will probably experience what I did. The sad part was in my situation, the loss was very significant. With two Vipers that run so darn close normally, I was getting waxed by several sled lengths with all three brands of silencers. I wanted one of them to work, but I was not willing to give up that much in power.

When I put the 4x4 pipe and can I gained at least 300 rpm. On high speed pulls it will climb up to about 9100 rpm now. So the extra power plus dropping a chunk of weight, to me, makes them well worth it. Plus it sounds way better now without being obnoxiously loud.
