A friends son has a 500 with the hole ( stud came out ) in the front exchanger what do you guy think about running the sled by bypassing the front heat exchanger? Looks like a job and a half to replace it.
Thanks
Thanks
without a srx rear exchanger installed i would not chance it. the tube at the back does not give enough cooling with the bypass to the front. i had added one to my sx500r as i found it ran hot with just the rear pipe.
yes it is a bitch of a project to change but why not cheat and get it welded in place. quite a few guys here have done that and have had good luck with it. they say jb weld works too but i would leave that for emergency repais to get it home/finish trip kind of thing.

Personally, I would rather take the time to remove the exchanger and get it fixed or replace it.
The way I see it, it is cheaper to repair/replace a heat exchanger rather than rebuild or replace a melted motor.
Just my .02

The stud punched a hole into the very top of the exchanger/ bulkhead (top of the first fin) almost impossible to weld or JB weld . Was hoping to here that somone had run this sled without the front exchanger and had no problems. I will leave that up to the kids father.
Thanks

i have one, if you want one, pm me
could it be welded with the track and suspension out? then there would be lots of room.
