I am running very heavy on my skis and need to let the front limiter straps out from what I have read. Does anyone have a simple explanation on how to do this or even better yet, a picture of what to expect.
Anyone willing to help me out on this in person can have a free flop at my place in Mountain, WI while we carve up the trails in the area. 7" powder yesterday when I was up there. (At least in my yard).

I went up the other day and took some measurements. Strap is almost all the way out with close to 1.25" of thread showing above the nut. I drove the thing and it drove terrible. Come to find out the left ski carbide was gone after the ride. The ski didn't look bad at all, so I am thinking it must have just happened. Both the center and rear shocks have light looking preload.
A trip to the local Yamaha dealer on a Sunday got me a Woody's 4" carbide wear bar. The thing drives much better, but is squirrelly as all hell with the back end fishtailling. In all fairness there was an icy base with crappy powder that was pounded to hell this weekend, not a good time on the rail bed.
I plan to shim the shocks to help the darting issue. My next question is: there seems to be a lot of preload on both ski shocks....about 195mm of thread below the spanner nuts if I recall right off the top of my head. Would relaxing the preload help the heavy feeling on the skis? Roughly how did the front shocks come preloaded from the factory?

I have watched less than half of the movie so far and know that this is going to help a LOT! Thanks Fleet man for the heads up!

I shimmed the skis and set the FRA to the soft setting. Man, what a difference!
I have zero preload on the center spring and had no luck at all loosening the two spanner rings on any of the shocks! I bought 1 Ohlin spanner wrench from the dealer Sunday.
What is the secret to unlocking those spanner rings?
