New to the forum. Love this forum and have received some info on numerous posts. Been riding for over 20 years. I ride an 02 SXViper (no pics to upload yet). I ride in central and northern Ontario mostly or wherever there has been snow.
Just a quick tech question. As I am not technically inclinded, I would like to clean my power valves. What is the best way to do this.
Thanks

Hello and welcome. I'm sure you'll find all the info you'll ever need (and then some) on here. Someone else will be along soon to answer your question. I wish I could but I have a non power valved 700... ![Letitsnow :letitsnow :letitsnow](https://totallyamaha.net/images/smilies/letitsnow.gif)

Welcome to TY!
After receiving suggestions from a number of TY members, I use the following procedure:
1) Remove one power valve asm from the head. Watch you do not loose the two locating pins on each PV. Pull them out before you start cleaning.
2) Hold PV over a shallow pan and spray with carb cleaner.
3) Clean PV using a new Scotchbrite pad and more carb cleaner. You can carefully use a razor blade for the tough spots. Just be careful not to gouge the PV.
4) I use a small screw driver and a rag to clean the PV lsot in the head.
5) Re-install the PV and start on the next one.
If you make this part of your yearly prep routine, it does not take very long to clean them.
If you use the search function in the forums, you can find a number of posts on the topic. Good Luck! G.B.![Welcome :wel: :wel:](https://totallyamaha.net/images/smilies/welcome.gif)

Hey another guy from Ontario. Welcome.
There are kind of three parts to this site
1. The 2 stroke side (which you obviously know)
2. The 4 stroke side
3. TotallYamaha.com (which has a tech section in it with some good FAQ).
Anway, the following link is about cleaning and adjusting your power valves. Enjoy.
