Plan the ride on the Quebec side I'd be in, I guess I could always get a weekend pass for the Ont trails too, but question would be, if the Liability Ins I have with the Quebec trail is valid in Ontario or not...???

^^^ West Carleton, that my old stomping ground. I can do that entire system with my eyes closed, lol.

Where in West Carleton? I live out in Dunrobin, I haven't rode any trails yet out here, but I see the trail cross's Thomas A Dolan just up the road from me.
I typically ride up around Fort-coulonge/Waltham go up around the Black river and Jim's Lake on the quebec side, lots of good trails, and not alot of traffic and or Cops on the trails. I can't make a ride this weekend tho, my sled is parked up at my Parents place, but if we planned a time I can bring it down around the holidays.

What??? I find most of West Carleton is wide open. Only tight stuff is the forest trail to Calabogie, the crapy trail that goes from Marchurst to Carp Rd, and the old Snye (SP?) single track from Galetta to Fitzroy. You want tight trails go to Ashton, lol. That's tight!Skidooslayer687 said:not so tight through the bush that the groomer barely fits lol
Is the trail groomed? I used to be on the West Carleton Board of Directors, but had to quit because I just didn't have enough time any more. I lived on Diamondview Rd (north of Marathon). it was great, could scoot out the back field, jump on the Carp River and be at the Prior in time for all you can eat ribs and a beer, lol (20 min). Actually on a good day with the flipper down I could make Calabogie (down A rail trail) in 45 min.moss said:Where in West Carleton? Anyway, I moved to Stittsville this year, so I'll be riding from there mostly. Well there and my cottage. I keep the Viper up at the cottage. It will definitely be making some trips home though. Got some radar running to do in the Bay, lol.

From what I can tell, its not groomed out by me in Dunrobin, but I passed by Arnprior last weekend heading up to ride, and the trail by there looked groomed.YamerDown said:Is the trail groomed? Im in for the Ride Ontario or Quebec i have both passes, and my roomate would be also in. Moss i live in Woodlawn about a 10 minutes drive from you, Buckums Bay west and they did groom into constance Bay last week. Lastnight a buddie of mine said that the groomer left Arnprior around 7pm but when we went for a tour at about 11pm lastnight he was not there yet. This morning going to work i noticed he groomed.

I usually see them twice a year. Typically on a Friday afternoon. Rare on weekends and definitely not at night. I usually exercise the flipper at night so I can see who is coming. Watch out around the Prior though, they will sit up at the road or in the parking lot to check for alcohol (which is a good thing). Also if you take the A trail to Calabogie they will sit in their cruisers at the many road crossing and nail you with the radar. That kills me, they should at least have to get cold to catch us, lol.moss said:How bad are the Opp out on the trails around here? Is speeding an issue?
Man I hate to break it to you, but we got more snow already then the past two years combined. And it’s been cold too. Last night was -18 (w/o wind chill), as was the night before. We still need more cold to freeze everything up, but we are off to a great start.Skidooslayer687 said:lol jesus i cant believe the trails are groomed up there... down here in london theres no snow, coldest its been is like -10 and that was only for a night, dam it i cant wait to be home for the holidays and see lots of the white stuff again lol...

Man I feel sorry you guys out east. Here in Alberta we ride pretty much where we want. Most of us don't have insurance and registration either, I guess we're just a bunch of rednecks.
Your problems with the screws and them having to get cold to get you reminded me of a great story though. A local buddy who was riding down the ditch when the cops pulled up along side him on the highway. This was a bright sunny day and there was lots of snow, anyway, oink turns on the cherries and tries to flag buddy over to the shoulder. Buddy was riding a then new, polaris XLT, (hey I said he was a buddy, not the brightest bulb on the tree) and buddy instead squirts on the loud handle and accerates away from the oinker. Oinker speeds up and as soon he gets beside buddy, buddy clamps on the binders and promptly crosses the highway behind the oinker as he slides past, and buddy squirts off in the opposite direction. Oinker piles on the brakes and turns around and buddy repeats the same thing. After a few of these, I guess oinker is pretty angry and buddy is laughing his *** off inside his helmet. Suddenly, oinker speeds up and accelerates ahead, then stuffs his car into the ditch up ahead in an effort to cut off my buddys sled in the ditch! The car is buried up to the tops of the doors and the oink can't get out! My buddy stops and looks at this unbelievable scene thinking "What an Idiot!". Then he grabs throttle and squirts right up on the hood of the car and stops, looks at the poor, angry and frustrated oink, flips him the bird, and then grabs the throttle and just launchs off the hood of the car and takes off! (we don't have plates and registration or insurance on our sleds, I never have and never will and I know how to handle that!) Too funny!!!!!! He said when he looked back, the hood was a real mess! I guess studs and paint don't mix well. Can you imagine this guy trying to explain all of this to his staff sergent? ha ha ha. G.
Anyways, hope that gave you guys a chuckle. Enjoy your ride, we're going here tommorrow too. Keep the shiny side up. G.
