I just purchased a 2001 SXR 700 and want to install an MBRP performance exhaust (can). Which one should I get. The trail or racing version. Both are the same price. I've heard the race one is stupid loud. Let me know please. Thanks to all who reply.

I had the race and did not like it at all....it was way way way too loud.
Nothing but noise polution and it got real tiring on a ride longer then 1/2 hour.
I would save your money and use it to clutch your machine.

had the race version on my sxr700 sounded amazing in my opinion. but yes too loud for long rides. if you're set on getting one go for the trail version it will still sound really nice without being annoyingly loud.
you could also do the silencer mod in the tec pages. looks stock incase the cops get nasty about noise levels.

I'm going to try that since if the cops stop you here the first thing they do is ask to see under your hood.

Here too! Wisconsin is nuts with sound control. But that is a good thing in all honesty. It will keep the trails open for YEARS to come, or will at least give them one less reason to close them. Landowners get pissed when they allow people to use their land and lose a bunch of sleep for it because the sleds going by are so loud. That's the difference between loud vehicles on the road. The roads aren't going anywhere, but the trails will be gone if enough people are pissed off.
