I run the SRX which runs very strong and a buddie just bought an 08 Apex Gt with the 40th paint. I ran the sled and was very impressed. Anybody every put these Yammi's against a stock ZR 900?? Just wondering what everybody's opinion of how the Yammi's will do!
Thanks

It should be a very good race. The two yammis will be very close or should be and the ZR will depending on the tuner be a really strong runner or a dog. If it is clutched correctly the ZR "should" win but it will be a fun race regardless.

On the lake last year we had a new 2007 ATTAK with us. A new Mach Z and a ZR900 wanted to run some of us. The ATTAK smoked both those two from start to finish. I am not sure what year the ZR900 was though. He was staying about 1 length behind the Mach. The ATTAK was holeshotting both real well and the race was all but over. This was hard pack snow and run till it's over.

Thanks there Journeyman.
I have a "south side Chicago Big Mouth" friend/ememy flapp'in his jaws about how fast that Zr900 is and I am the engineer mindset, quiet guy that usually kick's butt and doesn't say a word. I have run right on the tail of another "built" 1000cc cat and just amaze people. I just don't know what that zr is all about so I thought I would post to see what I was up against. Not to really worry since most south siders pay somebody to do thier work cause they don't know S%^T!!!
Thanks

Id say it will probably be a good race. As was said, it depends upon how well tuned the ZR is, but rider weight also plays a factor as well.

If it's an 03 Zr900, you might get smoked.
okay I did this last week. My srx, turks clutching and an edge rear suspension, vs my brothers 06 zr 900 stock, vs my friends 07 attak stock and all sleds studed. Very unoffical but we did line them up and we did race one time. My srx hooks up very hard with the edge suspension. So we drop the flag and the attak and I were even and the zr about 1-1/2 behind at about 60-70 I start to pull ahead of the attak about a sled and hold it intell a hundred when we had to let off. zr was about 2 sled behind brother said he was in some loose snow did get good hole shot. Just by the seat of my pants the zr feels faster then my srx. We were doing a lot of switching of sleds. Also the attak feels faster then my srx but the little srx is fast. Its a close race. If I would not have the edge in I would get smoked for sure.

How do you like the clutching on that thing now? What are you revving?
The clutching is much better then last year(hauck #4). It is hitting at 8400 then maybe goes up 8450-8500. (I have the red at 80*) But you can feel when it gets going at about 50-60 mph it just starts pulling like crazy fast. I havnt been able to run much over a hundred or so but it feels like its never going to slow down. LOL My brother also said something after he got off it like "dude it feels like when you shift into third gear it hits a nos button" LOL Much different then last year. Hey Mike Have you gotten out yet?

With the Apex, our good friend and dealer in the UP..."Pat's Yamaha".....said that you will need good traction. He claims out of the crate, the ATTAK (LTX) will win a race against the APEX both being bone stock. Actually the first year they were new, 2006, he had both demos. He always let's us take them out and hammer on them. We took both out, APEX GT and ATTAK. I was driving the ATTAK and my buddy on the GT. With another guy flagging, I got the holeshot every time and pulled the GT by a few lengths. I think it's definitely a traction issue with the heavy motor out front ,the 136" balances it out better. Also the ATTAK is geared lower. I believe Pat's son has his APEX geared to the ATTAK's specs and has alot of nails in it. He claims it out pulls the 136's now. Just my observations.

Well I'm definately glad you're happy with it now. I know you sure didn't like that Hauck setup very much (not very uncommon). I got out last week sunday for a little bit, rode a quick 65 miles. But then had to park the sled because I do a lot of Tichigan's grooming so I went out and did the whole Eastern side of Tichigan's system, and another guy went out and did the West side on Friday night, which he said turned out great. I will be back around town on Thursday and will definately be riding. Any chance you will be going out?

I ride with an 03 900, and it seems to go alot better than the 04-05, and one 06 was fairly close to him. I've always read that the 03 was the most potent and have witnessed it first hand. Tons of torque!!! If I was to buy a Cat, that would be it.
You better hope to hook up real well if you're going to race, and it will still probably pull a few lengths, but it seems that they don't have long legs, so you might pull on top???? They are a rocket up to 90-100mph.....
I ran a ZR900 a couple of years ago on my stock 01 SRX, all roll ons from about 60-70kmh, basically the 2 machines stayed side by side up to about 190kmh where we ran out of room. Very close machines. Also ran an Apex, he got me out of the hole each time but mid range identical, I pulled him slightly on top.
