Had the old SRX out today and was adjusting the belt height in the secondary and went to 70 wrap also. That was all ok.When you are ridding at 40-50 mph and pin it...she pulls good. Can't get good traction from a standstill yet, snow to loose.Only -14 C. today, would prefer -20 when riding the beast. At idle when I pin it,the DCS is coming on,but not at wot.It is like it is maybe rich at low end, once I get past 4000 rpm..she boots. My engagement is now around 3800-4000 rpm.On top end am around 8400 to 8500..which is great. If I had traction to begin with..it would be great, but just spinning out like crazy.Got the 1 " Predator.Kinda miss them studs on the old track, but don't want to stud the new track.
Anyways here is the problem that happened today. Was do wide open runs, rpm was about 8500 on top and she was hauling. Was doing 95 mph and climbing when all of a sudden there was a shutter and a wierd noise.I thought..belt blew, but sled was still going when I pushed the throttle.Looked under hood, everything was ok.Motor was still running and sled moved.I then proceded to look at the track, since it seemed that shutter was under me and there was a little shake also.To my surprise, one of the outer rear 7.5 wheels on the right side(mag side) lost a good part of the wheel.Broke off after the bearing and still rotated. As I speed up there is a vibration. So drove home slow and in the garage she goes. Now I am pissed off again.Having problems with those new Alum. wheels.Gonna put the original SRX wheeels back on.I don't need this. Will work on it tonight I guess.
Took out the SRX and went and did some ditchbanging.Love the 600,she really pulls hard, seems like it has more pull then the SRX and the cluching is dead on on it thanks to TURK.That old SXR has not failed me yet and with 10,000 km's already.

SRX's are throughbreds, gotta treat them with tender loving care, all those horses running around in the size of 3 coffee mugs.

Wow that is a bizarre failure. Gotta say I've never seen that one before! I would probably chalk that up to a freak accident if I were you, but nothing wrong with running the stock plastics again as well, just a little more rolling resistance. As for traction, you will never get that srx to not spin without studs. But not having studs helps WORLDS on top end speed...studs add a ton of rotating mass and really slow you down on top speed. As for the DCS light, what jetting do you have in there? If you throw in 2001 srx jetting you will rarely, if ever, see your DCS light come on. It is not a matter of being rich down low. Typically, you get detonation from heavy loading on the engine with lean jetting.

Those wheels are supposed to be from the 78-79 SRX(7.5),but they are probably made in China or someplace They are on page 175 in the New Royal
Distrib. catalogue and states Yamaha Standard wheel for them years. Also had one of them wheels on the inside delaminate the rubber right off,I epoxyed that back on and it stayed.Just getting a bad batch I guess.Have them on my SXR for 2 seasons and no problems.
And I have jetted to 01 SRX's also.My fuel screws are out 1 3/4 turns.I have the HC's in my clutch,7 g heel and 8 g tip.Still may have to open up the fuel screws a little more.Should pu some fuel screw adjusters I think.

broken wheel
do you think that all the things you have been hitting riding in marginal snow might have something to do with why you broke that wheel?![Letitsnow :letitsnow :letitsnow](https://totallyamaha.net/images/smilies/letitsnow.gif)

blueracer...I have no idea about that. Most things that I am hitting would be in the ski area anyways and in the middle of the tunnel track area.If there was a hairline rack in it when new,the speed and revolutions may have split it apart. Can't really answer that question. But I have them wheels on my SXR for the last 2 seasons, and I drive that sled hard.I ditchbang heavy duty with it,do weird and hard landings and suspension is still #1 on it...go figure. At least it is small things breaking, not related to motor.
