My brother was going to take my 01 700 sxr for a ride and the sled would run with the choke @ middle postion, but he closed the choke and it stall. With the choked closed it would start and idle for a second and stall. I told him that it neededs gas because it is almost out.
Can the choke come out of adjustment or will the stalling go away with gas.?

put gas in and try it again. If it still won't run without the choke, then your carbs are dirty. Plugged pilots, probably...

I just had the carbs cleaned last year and I rode a total of about 5 miles last year. There was not alot of gas in the tank last year and the sled was started a couple times thru the year because of people borrowing my trailer.
It may be possible that they will need to be cleaned again. The summer months are hard on the fuel in your carbs. In simple terms when the fuel evaporates the oil is left over and it closes the orfice of the jet, and that diameter is only a little larger than a twist tie wire. Keep a close eye on the color of your plugs.
Like TwinSX's said try addign gas and see if it makes a difference.

That does not matter, if it was stored with just plain gas(no stabil) you canjds2500 said:I just had the carbs cleaned last year and I rode a total of about 5 miles last year.
bet your pilots are pluged, plull them off and clean them GOOD,then blow
through every hole with shop air, make sure when held up to a light you can'see through them..
your symptoms are telling us that's what's wrong
get to work......
Good recipe for trouble right there.jds2500 said:I just had the carbs cleaned last year and I rode a total of about 5 miles last year. There was not alot of gas in the tank last year and the sled was started a couple times thru the year because of people borrowing my trailer.
Yes, We advise that you clean your carbs or risk engine trouble.
I was thinking about my sled problem and it came to me that I started it middle of novmeber after I put new plugs in it and it started on the 4th pull and stayed running. Now that I had to flip it in it sides to put new marginal snow wheels on it and now I am having problems with the thing running. Hopefully that it only needs some gas. I will find out this weekend.
